Fishing by tractor -2- Pesca com trator, a photo from Setubal, South

In several beaches of the Portuguese coast in older times, the oxen or bulls helped to take the boats to the sea and afterwards they helped to drag the nets and boats to the beach. Nowadays you can see the bulls only in postcards or special events (for tourists). The daily work of the fishermen is now helped by tractors instead of animals, as you see in my previous posts: Iron bulls and Fishing by tractor - 1.
As you see here, the tractor pulls the net to the beach. Then the fish is selected and put in those orange boxes for selling. In this case most fish were Atlantic horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus).
It was difficult to make photos, with so many people around. See all the fish unloaded, in the photo of workshop.
This is in Fonte da Telha, 16 km [10 mi] south of Lisbon, 224 km [139 mi] south of my previous posts (Vagueira).

Em várias praias do litoral português antigamente eram usados bois para levar os barcos para o mar e, depois, eles ajudavam a arrastar as redes e os barcos para a praia. Hoje em dia só vemos os bois em postais ou em eventos especiais (para turistas). O trabalho dos pescadores é agora ajudado por tratores em vez de animais, como se vê nas minhas fotos anteriores: Bois de ferro e Pesca com trator - 1.
Como se vê aqui, o trator puxa a rede para a praia. Em seguida, o peixe é escolhido e colocado nas caixas laranja para venda. Neste caso, a maioria do pescado era carapau (Trachurus trachurus).
Foi difícil fotografar, com tantas pessoas ao redor. Vejam todo o pescado descarregado, na foto do workshop.

Olá Francisco, muito boa continuação do tema, grande foto documental. Parecem abelhas ao mel. Deves ter estendido os braços para fazer a foto e resultou muito bem. Isto está cheio de detalhes para apreciar com atenção. Também gosto muito do WS que podia dar um post independente.

Ainda apanham bastante peixe para este tipo de pesca , interessante se calhar metade destas pessoas não gosta de peixe :), é uma bela foto de vida diária destes pescadores, parabéns!!

While your WS details the abundance of fish much better, the photo you posted is much more exciting with the fisherman in his oilskins, the net still raised and the eager crowd.
