Photographer's Note

I am recently one of the most active TrekEarth members. I wonder whether it is a sign of me getting older, ha, ha.
In spite of posting a photo almost every day, I was able to share last year almost exclusively freshly made photos. Now I reached the moment again when I feel that I have more interesting things to show from the past rather than from the present days. After passing the magical number of more than 100 photos from Spain in my gallery, I have to diversify and give a chance to Portugal now.

Most people who visit Tomar focus either on the lovely town centre or on the spectacular convent on top of the hill. Here a picture which tries to combine these two elements.
We are standing here on the main square in Tomar, having the famous Tomar church behind our back and staring at the Town Hall (Câmara Municipal de Tomar). Above it you can see fortifications of the spectacular Convento de Cristo, photos of which I have already presented.

I remember visting this square in Tomar. had not change a bit since 10/2010.
Excellent contrast from the white building, the checkered tiles and the green hill brhind where the ancient castle built upon.
Old town houses were on your back from this POV.

Ah, the Portuguese and their tiles. Great shot of this central square with a good view on the castle beyond. I wonder whether the shot might have been better with someone sitting on the bench. I suppose that'd depend on who is sitting there and how. It's certainly great as it already.

Ciao Mariusz,not easy to be very active on this with the pandemic and the lack of travel and something new to present, however you and I are getting busy..ahaha .. This is a beautiful Portuguese memory, and the style mirrors ours tastes, perfect symmetry, bright light and no person to disturb the view, excellent photos as always and a great example of architecture. Symmetric view of this square works well. And square pattern pavement tiles are so typical to Portugal. I think they look better this way, placed diagonally. It took me a moment to notice those walls high up in the background. This could be somewhat brighter I guess.

Hello Mariusz,
A magnificent picture of the beautiful Tomar.
I would think anyone visiting Tomar takes a photo here. This of course does not detract from the beauty of your picture.
The pigeons were also present and the Portuguese pavement tiles provide a splendid foreground (or is it background?).
I loved Tomar and now realize that I didn't upload a single picture of it... So go ahead!

Lep trg sa spomenikom, arhitektura u pozadini i zeleno drvece, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa golubovima.

Hi Mariusz,

You took advantage of a beautiful sunny day to get a nice shot of this town hall. The geometric effect of the tiled plaza is stunning, and the building facade is well lit by the sun. The old fortifications on the hill top add interest.

at each time my parents decided to visit Fátima sanctuary we crossed this town and visited it, once the car of my father (he had a portuguese one) needed a special repair and the only official mechanic for that brand was located in tomar.
nice view using well the pavement and the statue and architecture.
I got my third vaccine yesterday.

Wonderful day of Sun, who will be with you to capture this wonderful image of this beautiful palace, ideal as you have captured the game of the tiles of the square with its alternation in B & W, I love the bottom of the wooded hill.
Point of view, sharpness, luminosity, colorful and the chosen composition are excellent.
