Photographer's Note
Although I'm not very fond of re-posting, I wanted to repost this picture, because the angle in the original one was very wide, and all the columns were slant, and the thumbnail stinks, and I think this roof deserves better. bertolucci made a workshop, which I used for this repost.
This picture was taken in the church of the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos in Lisbon.
The monastery is build in 1502, and a few years ago completely renovated. the monastery is the most ambitious and succesful achievement of Manueline architecture. Dom Manuel (Manueline style), made a vow to the virgin that he would build a monastery should Vasco da Gama return succesfully. And da Gama returned very succesfully. You can find his tomb in the church.
The color of the monastery is of a beautiful yellowish, and I loved the roof.
Original picture skewed to both sides, sharpened, cropped and saturated a bit.

This is a good light to show off these beautiful arches, and a good PoV.
A little grainy and could be sharper, but very nice.

Great compositon and I like the patterns of the ceiling and the pillars shapes too, really well done, I guess they were pretty far away fom you when you took it.
Great pic

Interesting graphism, Rinie. It make us think about the scenario of "The name of the Rose".

Hi Rinie,
I like the contrast between the shadows and the yellow stone ; it creates a beautiful light.
The grain is visible, but is not a drawback since it is in harmony with the texture of the rock.
What grabs the look is the geometrical construction.
The improvements of this re-posted photo are good : the vertical lines of the columns are now in contrast with the curves of the roof.
Bravo !
Amicalement,
Michaël
