Photographer's Note

There are cities, like San Francisco, Istanbul, Lisbon, where photographing old trams is a must. I made the trip to Portugal while living in Ireland and it was a pleasant surprise to see the colorful advert of one of the most popular Irish spirits, Jameson, on the old trams. I did visit the old Jameson distillery in Ireland and I have to say I am not a big fun of whisky. While in Portugal we had to taste the Port wine (vinho do Porto) which I did like. We compared the old 20 years old Port wine with the young one and to be honest I enjoyed the young (much cheaper) more than the old one.
On that trip to Portugal for the first time we have tasted the light and refreshing Vinho Verde, which we now frequently buy in the UK.

For the non native English speakers I just wanted to point out the double meaning of the word “spirit” which may refer either to a soul or to a strong alcohol.

One iconic tram-wagon from the street in Lisbon, Mariusz.
Amazing transportation craft that still being preserved for the benefit of local people as well for tourists in this beautifl city.

Lep tramvaj i fasade, dobro pokazano sa lepim bajama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom.
Dobar rad, lepa fotografija.

Nis, grad u kome sam ziveo, nekada je imao tramvaje.

Troche Irlandii w Lizbonie... I troche irlandzkiej zieleni w tej reklamie na tle srodziemnomorskich pastelowych kolorow. Zielen irlandzkiej przyrody jest chyba wynikiem czestych opadow, nie jestem pewna, jaki klimat wole. :-)
Fajne zdjecie z tramwajem na pierwszym planie na tle lizbonskiej architektury.
Bardzo jestem ciekawa, gdzie sie wybierasz i zycze tym razem powodzenia! :-)

I never used these trams, nor is SF nor in lisbon.
you got a special view with the vehicle in movement and the architecture around. I liked porto vine, it works as an aperitif, but I prefer the usual portuguese vine. curiously I can drink vine in a hot day in portugal, but never in a hot day in brazil, only in cold days.

Hello Mariusz,

Somehow, it is impossible to visit Lisbon without photographing the trams; and why not! They are so colourful and characterful!
I really like how you have captured this one so close. It is almost like a challenge, viewing it without it running into us! Excellent!
The curved tramlines make super guide lines towards the surrounding, pink buildings, making the experience complete.

Hello Mariusz,
Even in the pre-advertising years, Lisbon's trams were already very photogenic.
Usually in the background we find beautiful facades or a winding street with winding rails like here.
Have you also taken one of those trams that go up a very steep street?

Hello Mariusz, an excellent close view of the tram, captured in the sunshine where the sunlight has enhanced its colours beautifully.
The green and yellow contrast strongly with the colours of the background buildings.
I am surprised to see Jameson's whisky advert.
