Rua do Carmo, a photo from Lisboa, South

Photographer's Note

This a view against the light of Rua do Carmo, a small but important shopping street in Lisboa. The picture is taken from the platform of Elevador de Santa Justa. This street lies directly below the Bairro Alto and is right next to Rossio (Praca Pedro IV) and becomes quite busy during evening hours. From the elevator platform you can overlook the whole Rossio square and the streets next to it.

I like the stark contrast of the figures and shadows with the light pavement. Black and white was an excellent choice for this.

You have already posted another good B&w photo of downtown Lisbon. This one is also great!- the pov, the b&w, the composition with the people passing, the shadows, the names of the stores. Light is also great! Good work!
