Photographer's Note

This is just one of many pannels we can find in the University of Évora. During the works of the 17th/18th centuries the University was decorated with all wonderful pannels. These can be found in the cloister. Unlike most part of tiles we can find in the south of the country, these pannels don't represent religious themes, they simply show daily scenes, but always connected with the east. The influence of the east (mainly after the sea discoveries) became also too evident in the arts. It's really worthy going around and notice all their small details. In this one there are also several: The buildings, the way men are dressing, their hats...
