Photographer's Note

We finish closing the year of 2005 and I wanted to highlight this event with this photo as a representation of the end of a cycle. Let hope that the 2006, will be full of joy, peace, and harmony for all of us. Many accomplishments to all TE members !!

Note from the door:
West of Praça de Liberdade, follow Rua dos Clérigos to the Clérigos Tower, which the Italian architect Niccolò Nasoni designed in 1754. The tower's six floors rise to a height of some 76m (249 ft.), which makes it one of the tallest structures in the north of Portugal. You can climb 225 steps to the top of the belfry, where you'll be rewarded with one of the city's finest views, of Porto and the river Douro. The Italianate baroque Igreja dos Clérigos, at the same site, was also built by Nasoni and predates the tower.

In the picture we can see a detail of one of the doors of the church.

Ola Manel, primeiro que nada meus melhores desejos para este novo ano. Eu gostei do simbolismo da fotografia que tens publicado. Identifico-me muito bem com ela, temos k fechar a porta aos problemas, e começar tudo de novo com novas energias e esperanças. Yes, the door is shut, 2005 is behind - look forward and move onward now, no looking back!!!!
Good lighting and shadows on this attractive door Manuel.
And did you run up the 225 steps to the top?? Sometimes it can be harder coming down from such a height! I won't go up there though, but I'd love to see a photo from up there...

Bonjour mon ami Manuel,
Très bien vu l'idée de cette porte pour clore l'année !
J'aime ces motifs finement sculptés en tables saillantes. Il faut rendre hommage à ces artistes qui parfois sont restés dans l'ombre et qui ont pourtant accompli des oeuvres d'art.
