Photographer's Note
View of the station hall of São Bento railway station in Porto. The station was opened in 1916. The station hall has approximately 20,000 azulejo tiles describing various aspects of life in Portugal. North wall in the picture depicts the Battle of Valdevez (1140).
São Bento is in the historic centre of Porto, but it only has local and regional train connections. Capacity of the station is limited due to space restrictions and for trains to Lisbon you need to connect at Campanhã station on the main South to North railway line.

Hello Kari,
This must be one of the most beautiful railway stations in Europe. I have been here a couple of times and it's really nice, which is also obvious from this photo. It gives us a very good view and it's clear and sharp, and the fine light helps us to enjoy the details. I also enjoy that some passengers were here for the sake of authenticity and atmosphere.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Kari,
This is so unlike any other railway station, it is absolutely beautiful!
I had never seen external tiling, like this, until I went to Portugal!
Your inclusion of the figures helps to explain the scale, as well as animate the station.
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hello Kari,
I have some older pictures from the Sao-Bento RR station, recognized right upon seeing this photo.
The place nowadays looks well cared, neat and elegant - better than the 10/2010 time when we were there.
Fine indoor's picture.
Regards,
Ike

Hello Kari,
Yet another stunning example the Azulejos unique to the Iberian Peninsula. The people animate the scene and provide place and context references. Tfs!

Hi Kari,
I am glad you also decided to show photos from Portugal and this one complements very well my view of the station exterior.
Great wide capture which shows the extent of the tiles on the walls here. It is nice to return to those old good times when we were able to visit beautiful places around Europe.
Very well done,
M

Hello Kari,
The people with their suitcases show that this is a station, but without them I'd have thought this were a museum. The famous blue tiles look wonderful and also the large door looks impressive. Well captured with good lighting.

Hello Kari Thanks for showing this outstanding artwork view which is, according to my view, the most attractive adornment
inside the Porto train station.
You uploaded a magnificent picture, taking great care to masterly include the best of its majesty.
Cheers
