We are indeed a country of knights!
This is the statue of Gonçalo Mendes da Maia, known as the Lidador. He stands next to the Torre do Lidador in Maia.
I like this angle in particular because the statue of this 13th century warrior seems to have been made to blend that remote past beautifully into 21st century architechture, and the lines from the tower seem to add to the gracious verticality of the equestrian motif.
