Photographer's Note
Funchal in Madeira is a fascinating city full of old and new buildings. The older part had been left with boarded up shops. In 2010 it was decided to try and attract more people to the area so a project called 'arte de portas abertas' was started. Many artists were attracted and there are some lovely examples of their work in the area. An area now much visited by tourists.
I have added two more doors to the workshop.

Hello David,
These three paintings are all cleverly made, maybe both WS actually slightly better than the one shown in the main photo. But this painting is a lot more fun, and what makes this by far the best photo is of course the inclusion of the real cat lying on the step just below a painted cat. I usually like to have people included in photos of art, to create some kind of interaction, but in this case the cat was even better.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello David,
I do like these 'free' art exhibitions!
They are well painted and well exposed.
What a good way to revitalise an area!
It is a pity that they haven't gone the whole way and opened up some of these buildings as craft shops.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi David,
Charming naivistic painting on this door. I like the colours of painting and also the frame and wall. I guess Coral is a sponsor of this project. Nice to see the cat too.

Hello David, a clever idea to brighten up the place, and you have shared three quite different painted doors.
Like you, I guess that many visitors will be getting out their cameras for a few shots.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.
