Photographer's Note
Warsaw Central Station.
From Gazeta Wyborcza (main newspaper).
It is 12:15 am. A train from Przemyśl arrives at the Warszawa Centralna station with an hour delay. After a while, the platform is crowded.
Volunteers claim that with each subsequent day of the war people come to Poland, poorer and worse, from more and more distant corners of Ukraine. - While at the beginning people were coming pulling suitcases on wheels, now we see more and more people with nets and bags. These are people who have no friends and family in Poland, are not prepared to move
I see entire families of refugees getting off the train from Przemyśl. Grandma, mother, five children.
What happens to them next?
Just a few moments after the train stops, the volunteers approach the refugees and direct them to the main hall. Otherwise, those fleeing the war would have no idea where to go.
Volunteers guide refugees from the platform to the registration point under the mezzanine of the Central Station, where the recognition of the initial need takes place. Most of the refugees are looking for accommodation in Warsaw.
A significant number of refugees decide to leave for the West, which is why for several days from the Central Station every 2-3 hours. free buses to Germany, organized by the voivode, leave. Some people also go to bus stations, from where they also depart for other countries - Latvia and Estonia.

Hello Malgo,
The persons in bright reflecting vests and the Red Cross sign reveal that this is not an ordinary rush hour. Both WS may have a slightly better light, but the main photo captures the dramatic moment better, even though my heart is breaking for the children who have to go through this without even quite understanding what's happening.
Also in Sweden the numbers of Ukrainian refugees are growing quickly. We now have about 4.000 arrivals daily, and the authorities are expecting a total of about 200.000 before summer.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Malgo, your pictures document very accurately just what is happening in the railway station.
My heart goes out to these people. I cannot imagine how I would feel if I had to leave my home and arrive in a new country, not knowing what will happen next, where will I go, and when will I have my next meal? And maybe not even speaking the language.
We see on TV many people here in the UK collecting essential items and driving to some of the towns and cities in Poland and Ukraine.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Malgo,
The presence of the crowd is animating the scene. You have captured well the action of the group of volunteers. The surrounding light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Ciao Malgo, your photos and your news are really fundamental, you have been directly on site to show us the situation that we also see on TV but with a free eye, yours. The photos speak for themselves, now we are trying to organize everything, 30 thousand Ukrainians have already arrived in Italy and everyone is mobilized for solidarity, while obviously there are always those who dispute remembering the Ukrainian crimes in the Donbass. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Sign of the times, when TE members have become reporters from war-afflicted states... The way the refugees are mostly welcomed is a sign of hope, but the whole scene fills me with sadness.
Take care!

Hello Malgo,
The higher viewpoint you found gives a clear impression of the many refugees who had gathered in the hall and are being helped by the volunteers in brightly colours safety vests.

I presume when so many people arrive in poland and the time of stay will be longer, the own people of poland will have problems to deal with these refugees. when this war will end ? I presume it is being so long for putin who wanted it fast.
take care

Hello Malgo,
If all these people were not refugees, this would look a lot like Grand Central Terminal during rush hour here in NYC. Sadly, this is not a crowd of commuters. I like that you captured this scene from above, allowing us to see just how many people were in the station. Every day the news from Ukraine grows more heartbreaking... I hope you are well. Thanks for documenting this and sharing it with us.
