Photographer's Note

The region of Lower Silesia is called the region of castles and palaces, one quarter of all castles in Poland are in the region.
In the picture you can see the Karpniki castle near Jelenia Gora.
The castle was built in the 14th century. In the following centuries it was rebuilt several times and its present neo-gothic appearance dates back to 1846. During the Second World War, a depository for museum pieces was in the castle.
After the war the castle was neglected, only in 1962 the building was restored, there was a youth center.
Currently the castle is again privately owned. There are a hotel and a restaurant.
