Photographer's Note

The capital of Lesser Poland (Małopolska) is the city of Kraków, which is the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. Located in the center of the city is the Main Square (Rynek Główny), both dating back to the 13th century.

Rising above the eastern corner of the square are the gothic towers of St. Mary's Basilica (Kościół Mariacki) reaching 80m (262ft) above street level. Every hour, a trumpet signal is played from the top of the taller one.

We arrived late in the evening after driving from Berlin - and the first 70 kms after the German/Polish border were not up-to-date - so we had dinner at the hotel (Hilton Garden Inn) after check-in.

Despite the late hour we decided to pay a visit to the Old Town (Stare Miasto) before bed. And found the place bursting with life in and around cafés, pubs and restaurants.

And yes. Next to the church there is a... Hard Rock Café!
