Photographer's Note

Defensive walls in Środa Ślaska in Lower Silesia. The history of the ramparts dating back to the thirteenth century, when the townspeople of Sroda ślaska asked King Charles of Luxembourg to permit them to build the walls. The walls with many semicircular bastions were erected ​​along the boundaries of the city. To the city led four gates. The walls required careful care and regular repairs, thats why different craft guilds such butchers or bakers took care for each fragment. To this day are preserved about 1700 m of walls.
