Nykirken, a photo from Hordaland, South

Photographer's Note

Walking around in one of my favourite areas in Bergen, the area surrounding the inlet Vågen, I was caught by this view of the church Nykirken (the new church). As you perpahs can imagine the church is not quite new. The first building was erected here in 1622. This version was designed architect J.J. Reichborn, and was built during the period 1758-1763. The church was destroyed during World War II in 1944, but was restored the early years after the war. The white building in the left part is one of many old warehouses along the waterfront. Now mostly converted to offices.

Hello Erling,
The water must have been very calm to provide such perfect reflections. This is a picture that you can also view upside down.
The white colour of the different facades and the church tower between the all-blue sky and the water give this image a bit a southern touch.

I like the striking contrast between the white walls of the church and dark roof doubled in reflection. The light on this clear winter day was superb and gives the whole image a nice glow.

a nice contradiction, and a great reflection. Well chosen exposure. What about vertically splitting the image in two halves? Each of them would be worth seeing!

tranquility and beauty in its purest and undisturbed form!The reflections are so clear like the whole scene would be reflected in a mirror.Indeed it must be fabulous area for a walk(but also the cleear,sunny weather contributes in this case enormously to the final success of the composition).I really enjoy the composition and the way you closed it in vertical frame.When it comes to quality of the image-everything is flaweless with superb clarity,light and contrast.

another fine looking reflection shot from Bergen.
whats really interesting is how the reflection looks just as sharp as the real subjects on top.
and you show good attention to detail by making sure the left sided edge doesn't cut off any of the windows....small things like that make or break a photo.
