Mountain Landscapes IV, a photo from Sor-Trondelag, South

Photographer's Note

This is Samsjøen, the main lake in the area where I shot my mountain landscapes.

Lake Samsjøen is about 10 km long, and is known for its population of fine trout. Many small rivers and streams end in Samsjøen, but there is only one river leading the water out of the lake. I will show an image from that river later.

I heard in the news this morning there is a bear hunt going on in this area now, since they have found around 20 sheep killed by bear lately… Personally I wish the bear good luck!

A different point of view on Lake Samsjøen is shown in the workshop.

There is nothing dramatic in this landscape, nothing like the mountains in the western part of Norway. On the contrary, here we have slowly rolling hills with lakes and ponds scattered all over, connected by small rivers and streams…

Hi Pablo,
I don't think landscape shots have to be dramatic, with the inclusion of mountains etc. This excellent shot is an example of all that's needed is water, good colour, well placed trees and an interesting sky! A good composition and viewpoint helps too and you also have that here. It's all in place, and creates a very pleasing image indeed! Well done. Best wishes, Vicky

This one is so good, Pablo, I like both your main post and the WS, and i do not know which I like better. You frame this lake so nicely with these pine trees here; but in the WS the vastness of the lake can be felt better because of your low POV, and there are some lovely foreground stones there. I like them both!

Hi Pablo,
Well composed with the foreground field and grasses acting as a perfect lead-in to the lake scene. I might have shot at a slightly lower angle to obtain even more detail of the flowers, but that is personal. I like the prosaic sky, the POV, and the general level of sharpness. Well done.

Only if he doesn't invade your campsite : )!! The photo is another wonderful addition to this lovely series. With the summer meadow detail of the foreground backed up by the lake and cloud decorated sky, this one clearly wins over the workshop. Now if I had had to choose a favorite from the series, that would be almost impossible.

This is another grand entry into your landscapes with your usual expert handling of the colours. the drama here comes from the depth of colour in lake and trees. (Is it my imagination or is it a little off-level though?)

hoi pablo! one can look at this photograph for many hours as its beauty captivates and leaves you a sense of awe. I love this series! we must be careful when we camp here so as not to attract the bear.

Surely not dramatic at all. On the contrary, there is an infinite harmonic calmness atmosphere and a perfect well balanced composition, with lovely colors and simple, well disposed clouds. Simple, beautiful image to rest our eyes.

Very pleasant view to this blue coloured lake, with great depth of field. The vegetation in the foreground is surprisingly sparse, but that actually allowed us better view to the surrounding nature.
