Stortinget

A photo from the city centre of Oslo. This is the home of the Norwegian parliament, Stortinget. Stortinget was established in 1814 and this parliament building, designed by Emil Victor Langlet, was built about fifty years later and taken into use in 1866. Stortinget has 169 members, who get elected every four years. The next elections are due to be held on 11 September 2017.

Hello Lars,
A POV that shows the imposing façade very well, and exceptionally beautiful bright day brought out the details and colors most effectively.
Mid-summer and people are flocking to the green grass areas, something I saw all over the northern countries, and yet - the people out there gave life to the scene.

Ce que j'apprécie, ce sont les pelouses ouvertes au public, en France, dès que l'on touche au gazon, c'est un rappel à l'ordre, voire une amende.
J'admire l'édifice du Parlement Norvégien bénéficiant d'une bien belle architecture.

Hello Lars,
I suppose this should be regarded as the most important building in Norway, and it is quite magnificent, but for the photo it is in my mind just one ingredient of the composition. The large lawn and the many people enjoying the sun are just as important. They create a very pleasant atmosphere, underscored by the lovely light and colours.

curious shapes and details of the architecture of this building, in some aspects looks like the back part of some old church. I ever think it is funny to see people in the lawns of europe and USA, something we never see in brazil where you would be roasted in few minutes. haha.

The more I see your Oslo photos the more I think I should return here.

thats quite the stately, elegant looking building. kind of strange with the rounded middle and square ends, but it works.
nice to see the locals lounging on its gardens :) Looks very friendly and peaceful here. attractive addition to your gallery. cheers

Hello Lars, Excellent view of this Parliament building. But even more attractive as the facade of this important edifice is the view of the lawn in front of it, with the people enjoying sunny day, sitting and chatting, or looking at mobiles. Splendid lazy atmosphere.

Hi Lars,
Impressive architecture, I especially like that centre part with round form. It is not the most massive parliament building, and neither is the amount of member particularly big. Nice to see all the people relaxing on a sunny day right next to Norwegian centre of political power.

lovely presentation from Oslo, I really appreciate it because I don't really know much about this European capital. I do remember that park with statues but I was not aware of any older architecture. So I am really learning about the world though photography here :)

Lars, the green space in front of the parliament represents a perfect spot to relax and meet friends. The imposant building draws attention, it is surmonted by the national flag. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.
