September night, a photo from Hordaland, South

Photographer's Note

...the last day of September, actually. In Bergen we have had some weeks now with quite nice weather. One of these quiet nights, I brought my tripod for a walk alongside Vågen, a central inlet. I couldn`t resist taking a few shots from this spot towards the bottom of the inlet where the fish market still is located. Hope you can enjoy the view as much as I did.

Rich and beautiful colours here Erling and a very nicely managed shot. The light is attractive and I like the subtlety of the artificial lights, nothing garish and very tasteful. A super shot.... I think your tripod enjoyed its walk! Warm regards Rosemary

Hello Erling,

You offer us a very nice picture, I like the feeling of cosy atmosphere due the warm colors and the extraordinary sharpness, no trace of haze.
The effect is enforced by the contrast between the twilight and the reflection in dark water already evoking the night.

tanti anni fa ho visitato la Norvegia nel mese di Agosto e mi è rimasto il ricordo delle giornate che non vedevano la notte e vedendo questa tua foto, ho pensato alla tristezza del lungo inverno che ti appresti a vivere quando la luce del giorno sarà limitata a poche ore e la notte lunghissima.
Una simile visione ispira sensazioni romantiche e ciò si deve soprattutto al bel momento che hai saputo imprimere nel fotogramma, con una tecnica sopraffina ed una estremna cura del dettaglio.

Ljusen från byggnaderna speglar sig mycket vackert i den blanka vattenytan. De upplysta husraderna bildar ett mycket fint mönster mot det mörka berget. En angenämt fridfull bild och förmodligen en ganska ovanlig dag, en dag utan regn...

Une magnifique photo nocturne de Bergen aux très jolies couleurs. Les reflets sont splendides en particulier ceux du marché aux poissons (où je n'ai quand même pas réussi à manger de la baleine -))

Peaceful and so pleasant atmosphere we can feel looking at your stunning image Erling!
It´s really magnificent blue hour shot with lovely combination of warm colors of city lights and quite cool and still blue sky.
Another captivating addition are these reflections in the water surface(even if mentioned by so many people and obvious,they really contribute to the great end effect).

Wow! A splendid blue hour shot of Bergen, the city where it rains most days. I'm glad you had different weeks with nice weather and you've clearly made use of it to shoot this brilliant evening view.
The white and red facades of the houses stand out well against the dark forests on the mountain slope and the darker water on the foreground.
The lights and the colours get beautiful long reflections in the water.
A very attractive picture!

its so much fun taking photos from such places isn't it, even if you've been here before its a little different each time because of the weather and light.

I think I can feel the cold air, but just a little :)

its great to see the reflections of not only the buildings but also the forest, the forest comes out as black in the water - very cool.

I'll get to this spot one of these days!

Hello Erling,
This is lovely with the bright reflections. The picture is very crisp and well exposed. I remember Bergen well from a visit a few years ago. We will be there again in March when we join the Hurtigruten to the Northern Cape and back.
