Photographer's Note
another view of Haarlem's historic Adriaan windmill
---
Haarlem is located on the river Spaarne, about 20 km west of Amsterdam and near the coastal dunes. It is one of the oldest cities in Holland.
---
Adriaan is an impressive windmill near the center of Haarlem. The original mill (also called Adriaan) dating from the late 18th century was destroyed by fire in 1925. A new one was built and reopened in 2002.

Bonjour Benny,
Quelle belle cadrage vertical qui comprend une multitude d'informations toutes plus belles les unes que les autres, à partir du lampadaire en allant jusqu'au moulin à vent. Magnifique lumière.
Amicalement

Hi Benny
I like the darkness along the edges of the photo, it creates a very attractive mood with that vignetting.
its a strange brown color, but it works, and the trim is a yellowish tone. Looks like a chocolate bar :) Now i'm hungry.
interesting subject, I like the overall look in this light.
cheers

Dag Benny,
De Hollanders weten wel iets af van windmolens.
Dit is ook zo'n mooi exemplaar.
Ik hou van de combinatie met de lantaarn en de prachtige molen.
Schitterend foto werk. Bedankt.
Groeten uit Oost-Vlaanderen,
John

Hi Benny,
Although I have been to Holland I never got to see any windmills close up, apart from the odd one in the distance from a speeding bus. The shape is unusual and sharpness is excellent. Tfs!

Greetings Benny,
It was the thumbnail that attracted me to this shot - I sometimes feel that the fullscreen or postcard-sized shots can be the weakest format in which to show our work. What put me off at first was the vintage lamppost - sorry, but I have way too many of those in my own collection; what brought me back was the surrealist lines and the realisation that the lamppost contributes to something very interesting. From my own cultural background, the brick mill does not fit naturally with the windmill - and you seem to have three or four very different elements which have been combined in to a surrealist picture.
Nice work - with a slow-drip effect on the viewer.
regards and thanks, Iain
