Photographer's Note
Tin Soldier Boat
Another picture from my archives, taken last August in Scheveningen, a seaside resort in Zuid-Holland. Here the museum Beelden aan Zee (Sculptures on the Sea) is located.
Outside the museum there's another exhibition of sculptures called SprookjesBeelden aan Zee (Fairytale Sculptures on the Sea).
There are 23 sculptures all made my the American sculptor Tom Otterness.
The sculpture you can see here is called "De boot van het tinnen soldaatje" or "Tin Soldier Boat".
In the background you can see a part of the Boulevard van Scheveningen.
Hope you like this picture! :-)

The sculpture itself is interesting. Especially it's somehow cartoonic.
The angle you've chosen is excellent.
Greetings from Iran.

Olá Lars, I like it very much. I love this kind of imaginarium of the fairytale world and this scene could fit well in the theme of some of my paintings ;-) Excellent composition from the POV of an ant. Love the divison of the image in two and the effect of this blurred FG. The red of the flag is also a nice extra color.
Have a good evening,
ricardo

Hoi Lars,
Groeten,
John.

Hi Lars
I like your nice low POV and the fact that you focused on the statues which through the foreground out of focus. Nice and original image.
Best wishes

Bonsoir Lars
Joli travail

A funny topic with a low point of view to try to reach the level of the tin solider defending himself against this voracious fish.
A good catch.

Hey Lars. This is a fun experiment in ultra low shooting angles. You were correct in making sure the focal points were in focus and not the foreground. The person on the left is perfectly placed. Very nice one Lars!

Bonsoir, mon ami Lars,

I love the extreme low POV. You must have been laid flat on the floor. It's perfect for this subject. DOF and focus are good too. Well done

Bonjour Lars
Amicalement.

Hi , Tue .
Very interesting photo .
Must be the fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen ?
I like your idea of shooting from the lowest point and letting the blue tiles becoming the water in the gutter !
I wonder - how big is this sculpture really ?
Greetings
Dorte.

Groetjes,
Stef

Hi Lars
I can see what you tried to do here, and it is indeed very creative and also successful to a certain extent.
The red flag and shop with people in the left is making this look more like a snapshot, a little messy if you know what i mean. You couldn't get rid of the handrail between the sculptures, but 1 or 2 steps left could probably have taken the red colors out (assuming you could hide the next obstacle behind the fish)and left you with a cleaner shot.
But having said that, the depth is spot on and the low pov is just the way to present this.
Have a nice weekend

Hi Lars,
grappig effect.

Venlig Hilsen

Hi Lars!
I am really interested in the composition you have chosen to capture this image, it is quite different from usual, but I love it.
These expressive images take all the preminence on the image, ruling the entire image.
Cheers, ejoy your weekend and thanks for your words about my last image!

Funny close up, well seen and composed to have a "naive" shot, pretty working. I'm not sure the dof is the best (no need to have sharp walkers) but it's OK.

Hi Lars. Excellent photo. The low POV is a great idea, makes these figures look like they are on the water. Well composed and thanks for sharing.

Hello lars,
I remember seeing something like those small statues along the promenades in several places throughout Holland, one in a known place like Volendam.
charming set from pavement level.

Hello Lars,
Your tin soldier is about to be swallowed up by a goldfish. I like your POC, the foreground does invoke a sea.
