Photographer's Note

The Gerendal mainly concerns a more than three kilometers long asymmetrical dry valley, located between the Geuldal in the north near Schin op Geul and the plateau of Margraten near Scheulder in the south. On the east side of the valley is a continuous and steep wooded calcareous slope. The forests are interrupted in a few places by species-rich calcareous grasslands with numerous orchid species. Behind this slope with a ridge is a small valley with behind it the Sousberg and the Keutenberg.
