‘Prilep - St. Archangel Michael Monastery’

Back in Prilep and with another monastery.
The St. Archangel Michael Monastery is among the best religious orthodox centers in North Macedonia.

The story of the monastery begins back in the 10th century when an unknown disciple of St Clement, the creator of the Cyrillic alphabet, settled in some of the granite rocks in order to lead a solitary life.
Between the 11th and 13th century the church was several times destroyed and restored.
In 1861 it received its today’s appearance.
A sisterhood of five nuns is taking care about keeping the spiritual life of the monastery.

Hello Paul,
Another four well composed photos, especially this one and WS #3, where you have made good use of trees and an arch respectively. Seeing all these photos of places I didn't visit I wonder if I may have made a mistake of squeezing four countries into a journey of only three weeks. On the other hand I wouldn't have liked to miss Albania (you really should go there when/if life ever goes back to normal).
Four enjoyable photos with good colours and interesting views.

Hello Paul,
Main photo welll placed the monastery edifice under the green branches, enable blue sky through - all under bright light with superb clarity.
A 10th century edifice looks as well preserved and probably renovated.

Goedemiddag Paul,

De foto genomen vanaf de onderkant van de trap, was zeker een heel goed idee.
Een trap geeft altijd wat mogelijkheden, hier ook krijgen we een goed diepte effect.
Qua bouwstijl, krijgen wet een variatie van architecture
Maar heel mooi in beeld gebracht.
Goed foto werk, bedankt.

Hi Paul,
Interesting view of this hillside monastery. Religious relation is not very obvious, although that tower has familiar shape. The room on the left, built outside the wall is special.

The closer view in the workshop is the one I tried to take but was yelled at by a nun on the balcony not to take any photos. Good colour, sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hi Paul,
Fantastic series of photos. The main one has a brilliant composition here You included both the tower of the church and the stylish buildings on a side. The entrance was so well used here leading the eye to the centre and adding a nice diagonal in the foreground. The tree branches well fill the sky.
Everything perfectly thought through.

Hello Paul,

The setting of this monastery is very beautiful, even if not as spectacular as in Meteora. The architecture of it is similar to churches in Greece. I like all the photos. They are very interesting and beautiful.

Hello Paul, it is only when viewing your other shots of the Monastery that we realise quite how isolated it really is.
The number of buildings is extensive, and in an interesting architectural style.
You had the benefit of a bright sunny day with a perfect blue sky.
A good set of shots.

Superb composition of this monastery and adjacent buildings that seem to fly over the kind of wall, ideal as the trees frame the upper part of the composition, fantastic photos of the WS that give us a good idea of the beautiful surroundings.
Very effective coloring, which highlights the details of the image.
Good management, both of brightness and sharpness.
Very well done. I like very much.
