Grund

The light was pretty challenging here, but I’d still like to show this photo as it gives a really nice impression of the district called Grund, located in the valley along the bank of the river Alzette, and the city centre on top of the cliffs at right. The church at left is the Église Saint-Jean-du-Grund.

I liked the visual effect of the sharp needle of the church and the high slopes at right side. an interesting view of the city despite the bad weather. here we are having a little amount of rain after many weeks of drought.

Hello Lars, a well balanced composition.
The needle like spire is beautiful and is a good focal point.
This looks a very interesting place to visit.

Hi Lars,a difficult light,the clouds are obviously overexposed to have a good view on the low part,very nice view of Grund,with the church and its old houses on the top,one of the most beautiful corners of capital,no doubts. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

The trees are giving a touch of nature to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the Saint-Jean du Grund church. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hej Lars,
En försiktig behandling av shadows/highlights hade varit möjlig för att ge mer lyster åt den nedre delen, fast då hade kanske vädret sett bättre ut än det faktiskt var. Det höga, spetsiga kyrktornet dominerar bilden oavsett exponering, och den röda minibussen vid kyrkan syns också bra. Det är en ganska spektakulär vy, som vi ju jar sett här flera gånger tidigare.

Inderdaad het licht was niet echt uw bontgenoot
In tegenstelling wist u daar een heel mooi panorama van te maken.
De scherpe kerktoren trekt heel wat aandacht naar zich toe.
Toch een heel goede foto, bedankt.

Hallo Lars,
De meesten nemen foto's van de Grund van boven op de helling.
Je had ook niet het makkelijkste licht voor deze foto.
Hier krijgen we echter wel een vrij rustig beeld van deze wijk. De mooi aangelegde tuin naast de rivier speelt zeker mee in deze beeldvorming.
Je geeft ons ook een goede indruk van de grootte van de kerk. Van bovenop de helling krijg je eerder een gevoel dat het een miniatuurkerk is.

Hello Lars,

The light was difficult and must have made you very disappointed because this is a wonderful area to photograph; it is so different!
However, you have still been able to capture the character of the place, the interesting buildings down by the river, whilst the city centre buildings tower above!

There is just nothing you can do about bad weather when you are on holiday, you just work harder for good shots; I can vouch for that!!

Hello Lars,

The spire of the church and the red van add striking focal points. Weather and lighting were not the best but always good to get a shot regardless. The river and clifftop houses and fg gardens enhance the scene. Tfs!

Hello Lars,
I see a beautiful scenery with the stunning green valley along the river Alzette.
Super sharpness and fine clarity of the big church and the surroundings.
A lovely courtyard garden f/g with a very similar looking window , very typical Dutch-style :-)
All in all, I'm happy with what I see in this picture.

Hi Lars,
indeed the light was not spoiling you but the tower is so characteristic and the foreground so nice that it was worth a shot.
I have struggled last weekend a lot having visited some nice spots with poor light conditions.
The outcome is still very eye catching and certainly convinces us about the beauty of the place. We can see also the fragment of the upper level, which looks nice.

A beautiful view of the city, with the two levels of height of it, in the lower part the river and its green banks, the wall saves the gap, with another part of the city on it.
Sharpness, lighting, and color are managed to perfection.
