Silvio,

I posted a note about your other shot (presumably) of the same tree. There was a French Artist named Jules Dupré (1811-1870), who was a preimpressionists. In 1840 he painted a huge oak, which my family purchased when I was a young boy, and we lived in Paris. In the next 30 years, he painted the same tree(s) again, and the 1870 version he painted hangs in the National Gallery in Washington, DC. The mood is different, and on display is his evolution. Van Gogh, writing to his brother Théo, described Jules Dupré's works as "...a symphony of colors." I like very much the idea of capturing the same sites in different seasons, different light conditions, different atmospheres. Well done. Wow this one is beautiful!
The rays of light and the burst in the middle where the sun is at are amazing. Nice colours and light. Good compo by having these bundles off light off center and the oak slightly centered. The silhouette of it is great.
Just wished you could have posted it a little bigger.

You have excellent light here with great shadows. The fence and the wheels add a special countryside atmosphere to the photo.

Mi ero abituata a vedere tua quercia sotto differenti angolazioni, ma non avevo aggiunto mia critica! Dove essere un monumento di Umbria, e vedendo suo successo su TE, penso che molta gente vengono a visitarlo!
Questa foto (fatta nella mattina?) è magnifica.
Hai catturato benissimo il sol levante e la natura nella nebbia mattutina. Potrebbe essere una immagine di un romanzo fantastico como "The Hobbit".

Greetings Silvio,

I've seen this image before and Roberto pointed me to it again. It's definitely one of your best, in my opinion. It almost wants to have a nighttime, creepy feel to it. But then there is the blue sky, green grass, and the sun streaming through the branches, turning what could have been a lonely, brooding photo into a mysterious, playful, even hopeful one.

Lovely composition, and interesting choice not to show the entire tree.

Magnificent!

Hello Silvio,
Amazing light to highlight the long arms of this oak. Near where I live we have the Whose arms stretch further than any tree in Washington. They are beautiful and one of the hardest subjects to take due their immense size and girth. The lighting you captured added an element into the scene that makes the scene noteworthy and shows the early morning hour when life awakes and the sun begins to warm the soul.

Ciao Silvio,

Cet arbre imposant qui joue avec la lumière, comme un enchantement, me fait penser à l'esthétique générale du film d 'Ermanno Olmi 'L'arbre aux sabots' ( L'albero degli Zoccoli ), Palme d'or du festival de Cannes en 1978.

ciao silvio. reading will's words under your most recent tree photo, i realized i had not yet appreciated your most famous work on TE. well, seemingly, no more words needed here, but i take this great opportunity to carry this photo to 500 points. 500 points and 46 favourites??? wow!!! this must be one of the icons of TE history.

Hi Silvio,
There is little that I can say that has not already been said on this image....magical, mystical, beautiful, heavenly, incredible. All are words that spring to mind, but I don't thinkI possess the words to do proper justice to this image. Perhaps my really big smiley face will say more, as I sit back and take in this amazing scene

I see you have the wide photo collection here on TE, and this photo again is awesome. The light is beautiful and the whole scenery looks a bit mysterious. The huge tree fills nicely the whole image, and the fence and old wheels on the down left take my thougts to the countryside. This photo already have 502 points so all have been said....thanks for sharing this beauty.

Hello Silvio,
Today this picture you've posted in 2006 is shown on TE in the series 'Featured Photos'.
Since I wasn't a member in 2006 I can write my comment today.
The sun rays emerge from behind a branch on the left and then radiate in all directions.
The tree stands as a rock-solid element in the misty landscape. Actually a dreamy landscape.
I read in your note that this is the largest tree of Umbria.
A photo that has already received a lot of smileys and certainly earns my two more.
