The members of this site are almost all quite old. In these days, surely everyone will remember the days of when we were little, our parents and our grandparents who are no longer here and how much this holiday was felt. The stories of my mother, who was waiting for Christmas to eat mandarins because there was no other money for gifts, but so much happiness that has been lost forever. With this old style photo from my bar, I wish everyone a happy Merry Christmas!

I membri di questo sito sono quasi tutti abbastanza anziani. In questi giorni sicuramente a tutti verranno in mente i giorni di quando eravamo piccoli, i nostri genitori ed i nostri nonni che non ci sono più e quanto era sentita questa festa. I racconti di mia mamma, che aspettava il Natale per mangiare i mandarini perchè non c'erano altri soldi per i regali, ma tanta felicità che è andata perduta per sempre. Con questa foto old style dal mio bar, auguro a tutti un felice Buon Natale!

Ciao Luciano,
The tree that was "flying" in one of your previous photos now sits nicely in the square. There is definitely a feeling of nostalgia in this photo, and I like the composition. Maybe this man was also thinking about the past, and how life was different when he was younger. It's a lovely photo. Buon Natale, ed auguri per un anno nuovo migliore.

Ciao Luciano, mio nonno aspettava la mezzanotte davanti a un grande camino su cui girava un adeguata spiedata di fegatelli e salsicce, così si levava la voglia senza guastare la vigilia, da qualcuno avrò ripreso, cartolina d'auguri originale e poetica, che fa affiorare alla memoria le tante vigilie di Natale in festa, questa è un po' triste, ma passerà, un mondo di auguri, ciao Silvio

PS penso proprio che domani non seguirò il tuo consiglio

nice use of the silhouettete of the person as an excuse to start discussion of the importance of Christmas. Yes for very young and very old people Christmas is extremely important. And yes remembering difficult times makes me to better appreciate some conveniences which we have now. I am afraid that I will spoil my daughter she will not have the same sesnitivity about it.

Hello Luciano,
The Christmas tree seen through the window describes the time of the year, but the B&W conversion, with a touch of sepia, makes this photo very different from most Christmas cards seen on this site. I appreciate its originality but also very much the composition as such. It's easy to imagine the man is thinking back on his life, when Christmas was more fun (and he didn't have to wear a face mask). You had a good idea for this photo and presented it neatly as usual.

Excellent B&W capture, makes me think of Ernest Hemingway.

excellent use of the B&W and the personage so lost in his thoughts while watching the christmas tree, having the cup of coffee or cappuccino in front of him..
for me this time I have so much work at shop and so much troubles and I have no happiness with it.
a poetic image, so well done.

Indeed. I've returned after many years to TE because it is in my opinion more ... calm, peaceful and undisturbed than all the other sites and apps where people post photographs. We will all (hopefully) be there, savoring our memories. All the best.

Your photo made me remember this song I like very much. This song always makes me remember the times, when my grandparents were all around the table at Christmas.

You have just said that my photo of snow reminded you of your childhood. And guess what, your note to this image reminded me of the times when I was a kid and the only time in the year we could buy oranges and lemons was Christmas. So it was something to look forward to! :-)

I like this composition very much. It looks like a scene from the old movie. We can imagine the story about this man, who looks at the Christmas tree in the square. Maybe he thinks about his past holidays?
Of course, I thinks about Christmas when I was a child. I was looking forward to it for the whole of December.
It was magic. Now when there are no small children at home, there is no joy.

The black and white is suitable for it. But Luciano, is it so cold in your bar that the customers sit in warm jackets?

A masterful photograph, it is a marvel with the portrait of the older man and the view of the window, with the church and the installation of the tree, but although this good work in B&W, it looks timeless, it is current and continues to be masterful.
The text with which you accompany the photo seems excellent and very meaningful to me, it has also made me remember Christmas when I was a child, in the small town of Toledo where I was born,, we had little but we enjoyed it so much, that now you feel a great longing and understand that you are not happier because you have more.
Both the color and the brightness of the photo are magnificent, highlighting the beauty and sharpness of the composition.
