Music everywhere, a photo from Terni, Umbria

Photographer's Note

It was really a great surprise, walking through the streets of Narni, to be able to listen to music of all kinds coming from churches and palaces. It was morning, so many musicians were rehearsing for the Narnia Festival, a great event of art, music and culture in the round that offers performances by world-famous artists, exhibitions, cultural activities and the best of international education. The shows of the Narnia Festival combine tradition and innovation and range from classical music to opera, from sacred music to jazz, from theater to classical dance, flamenco and Argentine tango. The main photo shows the musical rehearsals from the church of Santa Maria Impensole, built in the 12th century. In the WS two other musical moments.

E' stata davvero une grande sorpresa, camminando per le vie di Narni, poter ascoltare musica di ogni genere provenire da chiese e palazzi. Era mattina, quindi molti musicisti facevano le prove per il Narnia Festival, una grande kermesse di arte, musica e cultura a tutto tondo che propone spettacoli di artisti di fama mondiale, mostre, attività culturali e il meglio della didattica a livello internazionale. Gli spettacoli del Narnia Festival uniscono tradizione e innovazione e spaziano dalla musica classica all’opera lirica, dalla musica sacra al jazz, dal teatro alla danza classica, al flamenco e al tango argentino. La foto principale mostra le prove musicali dalla chiesa di Santa Maria Impensole, costruita nel 12mo secolo. Nei WS altri due momenti musicali.

Bonsoir Luciano,

Tu as bien capturé l'action des musiciens. La prise de vue permet de voir détails de l'intérieur de l'église Santa Maria. La lumière donne de belles teintes aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

Lep pogled i trenutak, dobar tekst ...
Lep enterijer i detalji, dobro pokaznao sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa muzicarima.

This colonnaded aisle reminds me of a church I saw in Bari. Good inclusion of the musicians playing in the nave or Altar. Excellent symmetrical framing and superb sharpness and lighting. Tfs!

Hello Luciano,
Interesting activities in a beautiful place, all photos taken with a good light. I would rate WS #2 as my personal favourite. We see more of the fine architecture, including the stained glass window and the crucifix, two diagonally rows of benches and a good view of just two musicians. I find it the most harmonious composition.

First a wonderful interior with columns and arches.
But the music must are a wonderful sound in the church, maybe a good acoustic.
Also perfect perspective and depth image.

A very nice view of the church and the old pillars frame the view very nicely with the group of musicians in the middle. The light was pleasant and soft as well.

Lovely interior and the musicians certainly add some life and interest to it. Pity that we cannot hear the beautiful music they are playing.
So it was a double benefor for you not only feast for the eyes but also for your ears.

Can only imagine the sounds in the old church's hall, Luciano, seeing you managed the indoor's variable light in perfect way.
The decorated culumns looks as mounted from an older era than the walls and ceiling - but those are beautifully carved.

Ciao Luciano, We see the artists but no listeners, so you saw the preparations for the latest concerts. Nice to hear the music in the church other than usual organ music (that I love).
