Even though the famous exterior is not in the photo, even the central part is iconic enough to immediately recognise this as the Colosseum. Very well captured with excellent clarity.

Hello Pierre,
Your fine, detailed photograph shows the design 'below ground' of this quite amazing building! Who would believe that, so long ago, a building could be designed and built, on this scale, which allowed the floor to be flooded!
I like that you have included figures (though it would be difficult to photograph here without including tourists) because they reveal the incredible scale!

Bonjour Pierre,
Je pense que certains qui n'ont pas visité le Colisée ne reconnaissent pas immédiatement le célèbre bâtiment dans cette photo.
Magnifique vue de près sur le labyrinthe des souterrains.
Ces passages permettaient aux animaux, aux acteurs et aux gladiateurs d'apparaître soudainement au milieu de l'arène.
