Savelli
The first historical citations on Savelli are found shortly after the year 1000, in fact, the town is mentioned among the documents of the ancient Benedictine Abbey of Farfa, which on the site possessed many lands and a monastic cell dedicated to the Archangel Michael.
But in the past years its territory has returned numerous excavation objects, various stone artefacts and at least three Roman epigraphs of the imperial age; We are supported by the hypothesis that there has been an inhabited and well-organized settlement since then, both socially and religiously.
From here the Savelli originated, who had great personalities among their descendants, and in the first centuries after Christ even various saints, such as S. Pellegrino bishop, S. Lucina and S. Gavino martyr.
In addition, the same family gave the Holy Church six popes, the popes Liberius, Eugene I, Benedict II, Gregory II, Honorius III and Honorius IV, as well as numerous cardinals, bishops, feudal lords, leaders, men of letters, jurists, Roman senators, marshals Santa Romana Church and custodians of the Conclave.
