Photographer's Note

21:07H last light in Genova, standing on Via Ippolito d'Aste , facing northwards, onto the Arco della Vittoria, view though to the RR station on Piazza Giuseppe Verdi.
Dedicated to the Genoese fallen during the WW1, and was inaugurated on 31 May 1931.
An opposite view on the WS with the three Columbus ships…

A nice close up capture of Arco della Vittoria with excellent sharpness and colors. I like the color contrast between the green trees and the white facade. Excellent perspective between the arches.

The trees are framing well the arch. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the acrhitecture of the arch. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike,
A fine view on this monumental arch, whose scale we can guess at by the people passing underneath. I like the soft evening light and the excellent detail to be observed in the decoration. The framing trees provide contrasting colour and additional interest. If possible, I would be inclined to clone out the street signs.

Good Morning Ike,

The two shots are lovely, the w/s being the subjec of a song that I remember from the past, but this shot commands attention!. The archway is magnificent and I love that it acts as a guide to further architecture in the city. A very well composed shot, with just a hint of sunset colours.

Without the modern traffic signs this could be a shot that has been unchanged for decades.

Hello Ike,

I find your workshop picture almost better than these picture, but this is personal of me.
A nice remembrance to WW I with 2014 an commemorative year here in Flanders field.
The gate and arch make these picture attractive.

This looks like the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, who built the first arc...Italy or France? Athough it doesn't look like there's a boulevard running through the arc. Nicely captured with good lighting and dof with nice details. I'm glad you included the people for sense of proportion. Well done, tfs.

Hello Ike,
a lovely photo that presents a very interesting and attractive view and also conveys a great mood. The symmetric composition works well to show us the majestic arch flanked by lush greenery. The distant view through the arch is wonderful. Sharpness is marvellous in the dim lighting which you've turned skillfully to your advantage capturing the delightful pink hues and atmosphere. I love the contrast of the warm tones under the arch. The workshop picture is lovely too. Congratulations and thank you!

Fantastic capture with nice bow centering the image, is a work that recalls the style of Roman arches, very good POV showing through His beautiful buildings central arch, trees on both sides are a beautiful natural setting.

I never knew of this most beautiful arch, so thank you for teaching us about it. An impressive shot, using the landscape format. I gather it would have been difficult to do with the light as it was. Yet you got good definition in the shadowed areas, whilst still retaining the beautiful pinkish tones of the sky. Nice work, congrats.

Hi Ike,
I have heard the name of this town so many times and yet I don't remember seeing any photos from it. So thanks for sharing it. It seems like a beautiful town, except for the impressive arch I see some other attractive architecture behind. I like very much arches I even started my personal theme with arches which I photographed but somehow I have seen many of them in predigital times and my photos are not that great. Very nice presentation,

Italian Architecture at its best..... that arch & the buildings that are visible in the background
sometimes the difficult photos to take ( bad light ) are the ones that give you the most satisfaction.... I think that you should be very proud with this photo

Hello Ike,

I spent a couple of days in Genoa but don't recall this grand Arch. It nicely frames the bg city. Don't know much about Italian involvement in WW1. I will have to look it up. Tfs!
