Storms have no borders, a photo from Como, Lombardia

Photographer's Note

Following the road that from Lugano goeas to north along the lake after Gandria (little town where I took two of my last posts) we grossed the border between Switzerland and Italy. At our first stop we looked back and I was attracted by the view of this village near the border with the wet trees after the storm.

Valsolda is a comune (municipality) of c. 1,600 inhabitants in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60 km north of Milan and about 25 km north of Como, on the border with Switzerland.

Valsolda consists of Cressogno, San Mamete, Albogasio, Oria and Santa Margherita on the shores of Lake Lugano, as well as Loggio, Drano, Puria, Dasio and Castello on the mountains above. It was the set of the works of Antonio Fogazzaro, including Piccolo mondo antico and Malombra; his house in Oria is still visitable.
Valsolda borders the following municipalities: Cadro (Switzerland), Cimadera (Switzerland), Claino con Osteno, Lanzo d'Intelvi, Lugano (Switzerland), Porlezza, Ramponio Verna, Sonvico (Switzerland), Val Rezzo and Villa Luganese (Switzerland).

Thats lovely and refreshing and its captured very well. The ambience, colorus and mood are superb.

Hi Giorgio,

What an impressive place to build this town. I like the way they use the slopes to build houses with the top ones having the best views. Nice vertical framing to capture the angle of the slope and the clouds slowly creeping down. The colours amd details are excellent. Thanks Gio :-)

Hi Giorgio, the combination of the houses with the green texture of the slope towards the lake is wonderful. The clouds are the bonus. Despite the closed weather, I liked it. Well done ! Tolga

davvero impressionante la vista di questo paesino che dalla collina, finisce sul lago, circondato da un verde fittissimo contrastato dalle nuvole che sembrano il fumo di un incendio.

Very interesting, eye-catching and beautiful photograph! Great colors, sharpness, pov and composition!
The layers in the image are so welcome! With them this picture becomes superb: the lake, the village among the trees and then the mountains well separated by the clouds!

elegantissima composizione in verticale per apprezzare quanto sia bello il panorama dal lago al paesino e ai monti sormontati da nuvole basse.

I find this to be one of the most amazing posts on the Italian landscape. Your composition of the green slope with misty clouds really makes this capture so attractive.

So interesting to see the colorful houses decorating the hill slope. A fine TE post! tfs

A spectacular landscape shot! I like the houses on the edge of the mountain - very effective for photography. The colors are well managed too.

This vertical frame, all these diagonals and the mist... It's simply excellent. The frame you chose was probably the best for these conditions. Very well done.
