Let's move to the cathedral, a photo from Bergamo, Lombardia

Photographer's Note

Next to the Basilica that I showed you in my last posts, there is the Cathedral of Bergamo. Generally the Cathedral is the most beautiful religious architecture in each city, but here certainly not. I show you two perspectives of the interior and a view of the facade in the WS.
The Cathedral of Sant'Alessandro is the main place of Catholic worship in the city of Bergamo, mother church of the homonymous diocese.
It is dedicated to St. Alexander, patron saint of Bergamo and is located in the upper town, in Piazza del Duomo.
The cathedral, which was born with the devotion to San Vincenzo, changed its title when the church of Sant'Alessandro, the oldest church in the city dedicated to the saint, was demolished in 1561 by the Venetians for the construction of the Venetian walls.

Accanto alla Basilica che vi ho mostrato nei miei ultimi post, si trova il Duomo di Bergamo. In genere il Duomo è la più bella architettura religiosa di ogni cttà, ma qui sicuramente no. Vi mostro due prospettive degli interni ed una vista della facciata nel WS.
La cattedrale di Sant'Alessandro, è il principale luogo di culto cattolico della città di Bergamo, chiesa madre dell'omonima diocesi.
È dedicata a sant'Alessandro patrono di Bergamo ed è situata nella città alta, in piazza del Duomo.
La cattedrale, che nacque con la devozione a San Vincenzo, cambiò il suo titolo quando la chiesa di Sant'Alessandro, chiesa più antica della città dedicata al santo, fu demolita nel 1561 a opera dei veneziani per la costruzione delle mura venete.

Bonsoir Luciano,

Le cadrage serré met cette partie de la cathédrale en évidence. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de cette partie de la cathédrale Saint-Alexandre. La lumière environnante donne un bon rendu aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

A lovely vaulted ceiling of the grand church and the colours decorating it are beautiful. The windows are a little burnt out and detracts from the ceiling slightly. Nice capture

Hello Luciano,
It may not be as extravagant as the ceiling of the Basilica, but it's not a bad looking church and the photo is taken with your usual perfect symmetry and good exposure. I like the blueish tones inside the dome contrasting with the warm yellow light dominating the interior. Another favourite detail is the big chandelier seen against the bright background. The WS as usual provide good complements, especially the exterior view.

Wow this is another spectacular interior. What surprises me a bit is that the interiors are so much more rich than the exteriors. I would almost avoid going inside seeing the average exterior. I have to change my attitude.
You convinced me that there is a lot to see in Bergamo. I think there is an airport there as well for people going to Milan.
Anyway, fantastic presentation here!!

you know i'm going to like this. and yes, having people in these shots with architecture CAN be a plus, no doubt, but I can admire and enjoy these people-less shots all day long.
besides...if there WAS a person in this photo you'd better call the Police hahaha. wonderful exposure all around, love it

Perhaps because both buildings are so close to each other, the difference between the two becomes obvious.
But actually this cathedral is also a very beautiful religious building.
I also think the interior looks wonderful.
Nice difference between the yellow illuminated parts and the bluish interior of the dome.
Good idea to choose the interior as your main photo.

If the cathedral is less impressive, at least this angle of yours doesn't reveal it. This looks just great with all those arches. Nice variation of warm yellow illumination and bluish natural light.

Your viewpoint is excellent, capturing the details of the dome, the windows, the ceiling and the supporting pillars. You have shown it to be beautiful in design and decoration. It may be reputed to be inferior to the Basilica but it is stunning in its own way.

Magnificent framing that reveals your sense of perfection. I like so much the subtle mix of tungsten illumination with a darker available light which constitutes the main eye catcher in these premises.

Hello Luciano, an excellent symmetrical shot of the interior of the cathedral.
The light is extremely well managed.

Looking at the exterior you would never expect to find such a beautiful interior.

Hi Luciano.
Certainly the Basilica is a jewel both inside and outside, the Cathedral inside I find it very beautiful, but its facade is a bit simple, however here you show us three wonderful works that we enjoy.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.

There are probably endless views of art and architecture just in the basilica and cathedral that you showed in your recent posts. Each one has different shapes and details to study and enjoy. I like the fixture that's hanging near the bottom of the frame. There's also nice contrast between the cooler colors near the windows, and the more golden tones in the rest of the photo. Take care!
