Around the Corner, a photo from Rome, Lazio

Photographer's Note

Rome is a beautiful city and the best way to get to know it is on foot. In summer the temperature can be very high and after a while people look for shade to rest a bit.
I found a shadow myself to sit and around the corner sat a man with a dog to relax as well.

It's a nice observation from the city. It's quite simple, but that's part of the charm of this photo. The old man and his dog are faithful companions both in need of a rest in the shade. The man is balancing his back against the wall, which actually balances the entire composition.

This is almost whimsical.
I like how well you have set the scene for the sheltering man and his dog. The stone makes the perfect backrest, whilst the stone steps are an excellent resting place for the dog and also, act as a guide inwards.
The figure is really strongly captured. He is not regarding the scenery but is thinking, maybe even dreaming ... I wonder!

It's a wonderful 'Portrait' the relationship between A man and his royal dog.
Both of them ... one feeling exhausted and the other feeling dog-tired from the heat as you said.
I think it was not a good day for day-dreaming siting on the scorching square. It's better to rest at home.
Anyway, a very well seen shot even the day was hot.
