Photographer's Note

I came back from Rome this afternoon, where I've spent a short holiday, of which two days together with TE-member Miguel Parra It was a great pleasure meeting you, Miguel, and you made those days extra great! Thanks very much!

Coupled to Miguel's red caps, I thought I'd upload another red cap, but one who has been in the Vatican for already a long time, the Swiss guards, who have have been here from 1507, so this year for 400 years. I remember well the fact that I learned that in history class, and I was surprised that the popes made use of Swiss people, and not Italian. And also the name sounded 'exotic: "Zouaves".

Miguel and I sometimes said to one another: "We are not alone..." as thousands of people were in Rome too, at the Forum Romanum, at the Colosseum, in the Vatican, near the Trevi fountain. Later on we understood that it was a year ago that Pope John Paul II died, and that many people came for the masses at St. Peter's square. That is exactly where this picture was taken, during the Requim for that former pope.
But he should have paid attention to the crowds, and not at his shoes.
