Photographer's Note
Whilst on holiday in Dublin we went to Jameson's Whisky for a guided visit. We were told about how the spirit is produced with some interesting pictures etc., from the past.
Concluding with samples of the spirit at the end of the tour!
"John Jameson (1740-1823) was originally a lawyer from Alloa in Scotland before he founded his eponymous distillery in Dublin in 1780.
Previous to founding the distillery, he married Margaret Haig (1753-1815) in 1768. She was the eldest daughter of John Haig, the famous whiskey distillery in Scotland. John and Margaret had a family of 16 children, 8 sons and 8 daughters.
Some of his sons eventually followed him into the business.
By the turn of the 19th century, it was the second largest producer in Ireland and one of the largest in the world, producing 1 million gallons a year.
Dublin at the time was the centre of world whisky production. The second most popular spirit in the world after rum.
Internationally Jameson had by 1805 become the world's number 1 whisky.
Today Jameson's is the world's largest single distillery whisky. It is now produced in County Cork and no longer in Dublin.
I checked the spelling, is it whiskey or whisky?
Well, if it is from Scotland it is whisky, and from Ireland it is whiskey with an ‘e’,.
Two extra shots in the workshop from the interior.
Thanks for looking.

Why the question mark, Jean? As I see in the WS with the big copper boilers I am sure this is a whisky place.
A modern entrance to an old building, an old establishment with a "guided-tour" as other distileries traditionally do, several of them I visited in Scotland.
Good evening,
Ike

Hello Jean,
Visits to factories or breweries or any place where you can see how ordinary "things" are produced are always fascinating. In Dublin my friend and I went to see the Guinness brewery, but I mainly remember being disappointed that we were only offered a half pint free. ;-)
You composed this photo well. There is no doubt where we are, and the woman being stored in a barrel, probably busy producing a whisky with a smoky tinge, makes a perfect foreground. The WS photos are very good complements.
But isn't Jameson's product actually spelled 'whiskey'?
Best regards,
Gert

hello Jean, I am not interested in a whisky distillery. I saw a very old one founded in 1608, in Bushmills in the Northern Ireland (but without a visit there). Such guided tours in distilleries or vineyards with a sample at the end are usual if you go with the organized tours.
Have a nice weekend

Hello Jean,
It still tastes good even if it's now made in Cork. I used to buy a bottle at duty free airports in Asia back in the good old days before Covid. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hello jean,
I'm sure you enjoyed the tour and particularly the sample, at the end. I like Irish whisky, too!
The lady, resting against the barrel, maybe contemplating a tour or recovering from the drink!
Your w/s photographs are interesting and sharp. It made me wonder, however did we learn to make such things! It is quite scientific but much appreciated!
Have a lovely w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello Jean,
Good information and matching illustrative photos about this world famous whiskey brand.
According to my records, it's whiskey if it's from Ireland or America and whisky if it's from Scotland or Canada, but I'm sure you won't remember the difference if you've had a few glasses 😊
Beautiful series that shows different aspects.

Have a nice Sunday, Groet Rob

Hi Jean
This one brings back memories. We did that tour as well. A good trio of photos, especially the 2 inside ones. I assume they still finish with a drink.
cheers

Hi Jean,
The presence of the persons is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the facade of the Jameson distillery. The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nice day.

Hi Jean,
I have lived in Cork for two years so I visited the other Jameson site there and since I am not a big whiskey fan, I didn't visit this site in Dublin when I lived in Dublin for three years.
May be I should have? I did visit Guinness Storehouse even though I don't like Guinness neither...
I have a photo from the latter one on TE:

Nice reportage and I like how the lady is keeping her cigarette there.
Very well done,
M
