Photographer's Note

Cluain Mhic Nois - Clonmacnoise

is an early Christian site founded by Saint Ciaran in
the 6th century on the banks of the River Shannon.
On the site you can find the ruins of 1 cathedral,
8 churches (10th-13th century), 2 round towers, 3 high crosses
and a large collection of early Christian grave slabs.
There is a Visitor Center which has the original high crosses and grave slabs on display.

This shows Temple Finghín, a romanesque church with a round tower from the 12th century.

The monastery of Clonmacnoise (Cluain Mhic Nóis in
Irish, meaning "Meadow of the Sons of Nós") is situated
in County Offaly, Ireland on the River Shannon south
of Athlone. The site can be visited for a fee, via an Interpretative Centre.
