A side step from County Clare today with a visit to the Aran Islands which are actually in County Galway but easily reached by ferry from County Clare.
The big feature on the main island of Inishmore is the ancient cliff top fort of Dun Aengus. The fort had walls only on the side away from the very high cliffs - see the workshop for a view from the inland side. Here you see the remains of low walls and a couple of people venturing foolishly close to the cliff. I posted years ago a much more dramatic photo of people on the edge which is still on the first TE page for Inishmore.
In the other workshop is a photo looking over that wall in this photo.
