Photographer's Note

After a photo break by an abandoned house we continue our route on the Svalvogar track road and we find at last the light we were excepting to have a beautiful end of day after a cloudy day. Svalvogar is the other name of the road 622, a 49 kilometres long circular road on the peninsula between Arnarfjörður and Dýrafjörður fjords. What you see on the picture is one of the most comfortable parts of the road, so you can imagine how hard the road is and why it is reputed as one of the most spectacular of Iceland. The most impressive part goes through a pebbles beach between the cliffs and the sea, a place you should not drive in on high tide ! You can have a look on this timelapse a friend travelling with me made : After close to 4 hours driving we arrive in Þingeyri in the night. Our icelandic guide and driver drove on most of roads of Iceland but he told us he had never been on this one and he could not think it was so hard, he thought about turning back but he continued because he couldn't find a place to operate. This incredible road is one of the greatest souvenir of this trip to Iceland !
