Photographer's Note

After a few hours in Thingvellir national park we drive to the north on the Kaldidalur road, also called F550 road. This track road goes through the Kaldidalur valley (which means "cold valley") between the Þórisjökull and Langjökull glaciers. This valley is a depressed block extending the one in Thingvellir. The landscape is typical of Iceland Highlands : a desert of stones surrounded by glaciers and mountains, with many firns (the winter was very snowy in Iceland).

Tu a été envouté par l'Islande ! On peut le comprendre . Les paysages y sont fascinants : lunaires , arctiques , ou verdoyants ...
Superbe encore une fois ici cette vue où tout se conjugue : lumière , ciel , contrastes ...

Le ciel n'est pas souvent bleu ici mais c'est tant mieux car il s'harmonise beaucoup mieux à ce paysage si particulier.

Terrific shot, Olivier. The presence of the car is a big plus, for me. The road looks adventurous, yet inviting, even though the weather seems a bit dark. I'd love to travel there some day, but my other half can't stand ice. :)

The curve of the dirt road blends so well with the mountain scenery. The single car is an important element in the composition and the dark clouds frame the top very well. A beautiful and haunting landscape.

Bonjour Olivier,

J'étais passé là l'an dernier, dans l'autre sens toutefois. Ces hautes terres désolées, avec cette seule piste pour la traverser dégageait une certaine atmosphère, je trouve.
Sur ta photo, ce ciel bas et gris renforce cette impression de désolation.

gotta love this one my friend, classic landscape of Iceland. such attractive mountain scape, with large ice and snow patches.
the single road gives the sense of complete desolation, like seeing a road on Mars or something.
