Photographer's Note
Our TE friend Ian from Australia has been posting Church photos from his time in Western Canada...so that has inspired me to post churches from Iceland.
First of all, in my previous post I showed you a modern Church from Iceland, in abstract form, and I said I would post more main photos - but I have changed my mind. Instead, you can look at WS photos here, of that church.
This church is actually in the middle of Nowhere. I put Thingeyri as the city, just because its the closest. Its in North Western Iceland, far away from the tourist route. This church is quite isolated and has seen better days, but I like it that way.
I used this isolated location to take a nap in my car. Driving in rural Iceland is difficult and time consuming, sometimes you have to rest to keep focused.
The church is nothing special, well...actually to me it is. Its quaint, small, isolated, somewhat run down, and its just SO typical of Iceland. I love it. And yes, I did try to get inside to take a look but the doors were locked.

Witaj Craig!
Interesting set of photos.
The old little church is impressive compared to the modern one.
I like this small church.
Good frames, colors and light.
Well done.
Have a nice weekend.

Hello Craig, not many people walk this path looking at the grass growing between the slabs of stone. The path leads us straight to the front door very nicely.
I get a real feeling of isolation here , although I have just spotted a rooftop on the right hand side!
It makes me wonder why it was built here.
The misty background adds to the atmosphere of the scene.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Craig,
This looks very rural Icelandish to me. Cold and wet and abandoned. But I understand why you liked this place, and I knew you would try to get inside. I like the symmetry (as usual) of the photo and the combination of red, green and white. The WS are a lot more flashy, or perhaps I should say elegant, but somehow this church looks more genuine.
Have a nice weekend.

Hello Craig,
I can see why you opted to post this photograph rather than the second one of the modern church. This is much more your style, old, neglected, texturised!
It's a fine composition with the overgrown pathway leading directly to the abandoned church, which makes a strong feature against the empty sky.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Craig,of course I didn't even see this little church on my organized tour, and it's really very pretty. We say "a cathedral in the desert" when something is built in the middle of nowhere, and this saying fits perfectly with your photo. 2 useful WS that show the church you showed us earlier from different angles and that reveal this truly unique and original architecture. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Craig,
The length of the alley is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the old church. There is a good contrast between the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
A much smaller church than in your previous post. Excellent symmetry and I like how the narrow path leads to the old wooden door. The red roof stands out well from the white sky.

Hello Craig,
I see not everyday, people bring a visit to this small Church.
Many grass on the footpath and a broken door.
Nice sharp an perfect of colour.
Excellent composition and good presentation too.
Very well done, TFS.
Regards,
John.

Hello Craig,
This is definitely your "cup of tea", a small, locked church that is a bit worn out and seems to be inviting you to enter. The cute, little path is a nice lead-in, too. Somehow this little church seems to have a personality of its own. It's a nice find. Take care!

Hi Craig.
Thanks for the title. I did try to reply to your question about the Pentax K1 II but it didn't seem to go anywhere. I bought it as a K1 but when the II came out you were able to get it upgraded to the new camera. I do love it - it gives superb results. It is a bit more compact to many full frame cameras but still a bit heavy so I am selective about what lenses I take when travelling. My previous K3 now lives with my daughter.
And .. this is the sort of church I like taking photos of - small old and rustic. I've posted quite a few Australian equivalents. Great photo as are the WS ones.
And ... I'm sure you'll like my posting today.
cheers
Ian

Hi Craig,
very charming church and a great composition. The path in front of it makes such a nice introduction.
Nirmally I would not be happy about a white sky but here you have such a nice gradient from the grey at the horizon to the whiter at the top.
Excellent capture,
M

Hello Craig,
The sky were not in your favor, but you managed good balance with thechirch and the leading paved trail.
Green and yellow weed gave special hue to the outcome.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Craig,
Built far from civilization, I wonder who this church was built for.
For the exceptional photographer who comes by?
The church is beautiful in its simplicity.
The surrounding landscape appears chilly and wet. But apparently you didn't mind.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Craig
Good sharpness and perspective with the fg path and its grassy squares adding excellent lead in lines towards the church. I like the soft pastel colours and diffused lighting. Tfs!
