Photographer's Note

Last year the environmental committee of Reykjavík City Council took action on seagulls in Reykjavík and neighboring areas, as they were very prevalent in the city at the moment and many people had complained about them.

Pest control officers, who were given the responsibility of reducing the gull population, said that there had never seen as many seagulls in Reykjavík before. The gull population was reduced by consultation with specialists and informing the general public about what to do (and not do) when near the birds.

And I must add - although beautiful and graceful, these birds have an awful nature - they are aggressive and attack every bird weaker than them in the name of food. So, the people who feed birds on the pond in front of the City Hall can back me up with their experience - which is inevitably the same - we all try to secretly throw bread to poor geese or swans but seagulls are always on the watch.

But on the other hand this makes the strolls along the pond so much more fun!

A funny shot with this firt seagull which look at you ! But I find it's misses colors and contrasts. Just a test in WS.

Excellent. This is the kind of shot you may see on a postcard or somewhere. It is funny but it is also technically great too.

Fun picture! DOF is good. Lacks a bit of color I guess but pretty hard to do otherwise.

Love the title though ;)

What a lovely scene! I love the small dof. Your timing and composition are remarkable. Maybe it would have been better if you hadn't cut the bird's feet, but still it is an amazing shot.

such a nice observation place the pond, I have a pic of a young woman taking pics there, maybe it was you ? Do you own a small red rucksack and a dark green sweater with white stripes on the arms ?

I like very much your composition, it's funny and great details, workshop gives it good contrast and yes, a pity as for the tail, nex time then:-) good catch!
