Photographer's Note

This modern monument stands on Plot 301 of the New Public Cemetery (Új köztemetö) in the 10th District of Budapest. It is the “1956 revolution martyrs memorial”, designed by György Jovánovics and erected in June 1992. Approximately 260 martyrs were buried in unmarked graves in Plot 301, including the Prime Minister Imre Nagy. After the 1990 regime change many of them were identified and re-buried here. Imre Nagy's grave and the unnamed martyr's grave beside it is shown in the Workshop.
