The boat-shaped headboard cemetery of Szatmárcseke and István Korpás - the craftsman carving them - standing next to his brothers headboard. - This one too, was carved by him.
In the WS you can see 'postcards' portraying the cemetery.

Hello Gyorgy, What a strange cemetery, I have never heard about anything similar. Why it is so? Is it near to a lake or a river? It seems that the picture was made a hundred years ago. Excellent black and white.

Interesting that you can find art in cemetery as depicted and the wooden headboards I find very rare but full of history and tradition. You make this craftsman real proud no doubt and this a very tender and good honest photograph, Your brief info notes is useful. Congrats

Hello György,
This is really one of the strangest places you have shown us. These extremely odd gravestones make me think of the works of eccentric amateur artists who in some cases could be diagnosed as mildly schizophrenic, or maybe something from a Polynesian culture. I have never seen anything like it. Besides, the B&W treatment of the main photo makes it look like it was taken around the 1930's. Strangest place in Hungary for sure, even stranger than the flea market in Miskolc.

Hi Gyorgy,the main pic is a masterwork,the face of the man close to the tomb talks himself. Very curious place to take pics and very curious too the forms,useful 2 WS made in the usual grained way with soft details too,i like it! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano
