Photographer's Note

This is the old and abandoned wine factory of Arethousa, located at the south side of town of Chalkis.

The building with the impressive chimney is closed for at least 3 decades and the local authorities still waiting for the greek Ministry of Culture to make this place a culture museum and center, with big areas of green and place for children games. Still waiting...

I took the photo today, at late noon and the lighting is natural (I like this way). The horizon is straight, the chimney is tilted to the left! :)

I really like this one; old glory gone by...
That chimney looks like it's going to fall over. The late hour gives a certain "timbre" to the colours that I like too. I think you that this would also look very good in sephia.
They should tell the ministery to wait longer so that it will cost more to restore it. I'm sure this site has potential.

Very nice Mpampis...I agree with you on the lighting, natural is my favorite as well :) It works great here. Very informative note as usual. What happened to the building's roof, just old?

Nice color. Very interesting patterns of small circles and the squares at the bottom. Colors are warm. Nice...very nice.

Yes Mpampis, the light is indeed beautiful, and results in a pleasant tonal range to render the details of this old factory. Good composition with an effective diagonal leading the view towards the chimney. Nice shot.

Old factories are urban monuments. I hope that some of them will escape the destiny of becoming ...malls. Nice photo Mpampi!

A really great industrial photo...I love the light and the colors here. Reminds me the colors of the old good Kodachrome film...Very well done Mpampi!
