Photographer's Note
Meandering through the cozy lanes of Thira one day, I came upon a family roasting their Easter lamb on a spit in the back yard. When I stopped to take a picture, the matriarch vigorously waved for me to enter. Out came the retsina wine, a plate of roast lamb, cucumbers and olives landed in my hand while a boombox whined a belly-dancing tune. Grandfather jumped up from the table and kicked his heels skyward as grandma joined him, apron round her waist, spinning like a teenager. Plates flew through the air, crashing into pieces against the wall. Then, everyone got up, snaking around the table in true Zorba fashion until dusk.

Eva, this is such a typical Greek scene and such a typical Greek story - I like it very much, being a bit of a Graecophile. It captures that wonderful light and the warmth of the people beautifully. It's a very spontaneous, candid shot and it's come up pretty well after all these years.
