Photographer's Note
Inspired by recent post by dekanski and mkamionka, here's a look back at our stay in Chania (or Hania).
THIS PICTURE was shot from the rooftop coffee place of the small hotel we were staying. The old mosque is clearly visible on the other side of the harbour/bay, as are the softly coloured houses of Chania, which was a great place to start our 2017 summer trip. In fact I think this was the very first picture I took on that holiday. Not a bad place to start!
O Greece, those were the days!

Hello Benny,
I have been to Chania a few times but never stayed long enough to get to know the city well, so I can't figure out the location of this hotel. Anyway, I like the view of the city, well framed by the "roof" above and the balcony below. Especially I like the pink and blue tablecloths.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Benny,
Now that is a place to have a coffee! The view is simply phenomenal, I could get used to it quite fast.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hallo Benny,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Benny
I think that Chania was my favourite stop in all of Greece when I travelled around in 1998. A good photo looking towards the waterside shops and cafes. Well framed.
cheers

Hello Benny, You have round a fantastic viewpoint. Pity that the photo can't be seen in the large format to see more detail. I remember this Chania centre with the mosque. Nice to have something to eat there and to have this wonderful view.

Hi Benny,
So pity that you show this photo now! If I only knew there is a cafe or restaurant with such a great view, I would certainly look for it. To be honest though I think there were some elevated viewpoints on the other side and I struggled to find a path there. I simply have to return to Crete which is a spectacular destination.
Nice use of the roof here to cover the cloudy sky and originally frame the scene,
Excellent work!

Goedemiddag Benny,

Hello Benny
I loved Chania, even more than Heraklion. Suh a charming seaside town. Compact and picturesque too. And what a splendid view of the harbour! Tfs!

Hi Benny
So inviting - the world to oneself! Sure looks like a nice spot to be seated there. Bright and cheerful so nicely composed and such beautiful colours.

Hello Benny,
Super viewpoint!
The bamboo roof and balcony wall help to create a slot into which the wonderful details of Chania are neatly placed.
The sky isn't bright and yet the city looks colourful and welcoming, as we take advantage of the huge sense of depth.
(I think I may be biased as I loved Chania!)
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
