Photographer's Note

I have already described my adventure with getting to the “Palm Beach” or Preveli Beach on Crete. Read more about it in my previous upload from this place here:

I think I would probably be very excited to arrive on a beach like that on my first day on Crete. However, prior to that beach I have already visited:
1. Balos Beach
2. Elafonisi Beach
3. Falasarna Beach
These are without the doubt the best beaches on the island. There are two or three more but on the other end of the island which was too far for me. These three are most probably among the most beautiful beaches in the world so the Preveli Beach was clearly a class or two lower. Nevertheless, since the other beaches were quite flat, I have a much better photo of this beach because it is framed with nice hills which offer some attractive points of view. From this angle here you can see why the name “Palm Beach” does not feel very appropriate. The palm trees are indeed visible in the centre but they certainly do not feel like a part of the beach. But the gorge which enters the beach in between the palm grove offers spectacular walking opportunities, as I showed before. Typical route of getting to this beach is from a parking which is located on the very top of the hill which you see on the other side of the beach. Not a very easy access. That is why many people arrive on a boat tour. I arrived walking across the hill from which I took this photo. My hike was the easiest but the driving part was quite dramatic as I described in the previous photo from this place.
