Photographer's Note

This is my first photo from the latest trip to Greece.
Taken on my first day on Santorini.I arrived 6A.M,so had to wait to check-in at my Hotel.Good time to get the first impression of this beautiful island.
I processed the image in Photomatix,so it´s HDR.

I hope you´ll like it!

The Caldera always intriguing subject, and you marvelousely achieved good DOF ans the view down to sea-level with fine clarity.
Contrast blue on white, and many elements of interest well collected.

Great choice of the island,i been 4 times in Greece but never in Santorini,and i think that this is the most attractive place for a photographer.And i can see a fantastic example,a magnificent view of the old town made whit your usual great class and quality,i like it! Awesome!!!! Seems like everyone is going to Greece recently!!

And I may be next....we're thinking about it.

I want to hear ALL about your trip to these Islands, how you got around, did you rent a car, how expensive the ferry boats were, how easy or how difficult it was to get around....so many questions!!!!

was it better to get these classic hillside shots of Santorini in the morning light or in the evening light...the list goes on and on.

wonderful first posting.
I'd never have known it was HDR, looks fantastic.
the colors look real, the sharpness is just perfect, and the overall view is stunning.

Impressive scenic spot taken from high vantage point, a really fascinating early morning view and so much to see and take in. The detail is excellently registered but those dominant cluster of compact dwellings certainly conveys that special charm and atmosphere. The image is crystal clear, sharp in bright warm lights and tones while the deep blue is the right recipe and touches of bright vivid colors further add the beauty and fascination, What a sky to finish off,

The empty terraces tell us it must be very early in the morning. Too early for tourists.
The position of the sun creates a very beautiful alternation of light and shadow on the small island at the right.
I'm sure the island of Santorini has blessed you with lots of outstanding views (and pictures of course). I understand very well that this was your first goal in Greece.
Excellent composition, sharpness, very attractive colours.

hello, greece has a signature in it's view everywhere. The blue-white combination tells the name of the nation... An interesting composition. Crystal clear as ever. There are so much points of attraction in this frame. Excellent depth and sharpness with superb colour tone. Tfs.

Hello Krzysztof - A delicately detailed shot from Santorini and so much to enjoy here. Your vantage point gives a wonderful wide view of the familiar buildings, the more distant landscape and the ocean with the ships steaming away from the coastline. This is the kind of scene that makes me smile broadly :) Its the kind of scene that sums up photography for me, and if I took a shot like this I would be so pleased.
To have the staircase in the lower left leading into the shot is a stroke of genius. Being a fan of architecture, I want to walk down those stairs and explire all of the narrow streets and all of the fine buildings, especially with the soft gentle pastel colors. Of course, my journey would lead me to that dome peeping out over the sea, which I am guessing is a church??

Then, to compliment this beautiful scene of the town, we look down, sweeping our eyes to the sea and the giant cruise ship, in which you have caught such brilliant detail. All of the elements wonderful in themselves, but then to see them all combined under this light. Stunning work Krzysztof, a really cool shot. Thanks as always for sharing this, a new favorite for me!!

PS I've come to realize what an impression stray animals make to visitors. In fact, the sight is very common for the local people. In the islands, stray animals have come to trust anyone who will give them some attention. They become part of the travelling experience and they feature even in postcards...

Pardon me if I go a bit over the top here, but WOW!! :) When I first saw this in the gallery I thought it was a painting, the soft range of colors here is incredible along the hillside as they contend with the deep blue Mediterranean waters...this is an overall gem my friend!

I would be tempted to spend the rest of the trip in this one spot if it were my first impression as well, what a stunning and picturesque scene. I could go on about every little detail that catches my attention here, but much like your black & white Chicago picture not too long ago it's the reaction and emotion I feel from this type of presentation that I find most the most inspiring. Compliments on a truly delightful image! Enjoy your Sunday.

This is a place that I very much want to visit. I like this particular image very much as it gives a wider view showing some neighbouring islands. The morning light is beautiful. The steps between the neat and colourful buildings are a good lead in from the corner. It is interesting to see how busy it is with the boats of all sizes.

Wow! no to jest niesamowicie przepiekny widok, jest dokladnie wszystko co cieszy oko. Przepiekne miejsce i doskonale ze zrobiles to zdjecie. Wprost cudowny i zachwycajacy widok. I was thinking of going to Santorini myself at some point but have not got around to doing so. I am glad you have posted pictures of it so I can get to see it better. This is a great example of the way HDR should be used to enhanced an image.

HDR would be the only way to even out the light here, and you've done it so subtly and professionally. I love your POV, which just says "Brian Timecapturer" all over it. I can truly see why you and he have fallen in love with this paradise on Earth. I only hope that Greece, like Spain, Italy, Ireland and Portugal can see a way out of the very dire financial crisis that afflicts them. Stunning perspective, beautiful colours and as I said before, amazing light regulation. A feast for the eyes, I love it.

cześć krzychu, wyobrażan sobie jakie bajeczne zdjęcia z Santorini nam pokażesz. tu poprzeczka jest ustawiona bardzo wysoko przez Briana. Chyba musiałes długo czekać w hotelu, często mozna sie zameldowac dopiero późnym popołudniem. Ale to nie problem, bierzesz aparat i idziesz robic zdjecia. I jakie fantastyczne światło o w schodzie słońca. Bajeczne zdjecie.

Wonderful POV with the steps downhill and the beautiful terraces and facades perspective, with the magic of varied volumes, stunning view of the caldera with liners, beautiful sunset light and color.

this HDR is managed well, I like its softness, its good light early in the morning and the quality of the colours.
And of course, the wonderful view on the white architecture of the village, and on the caldera, with the huge cruise-ship and another boats.
The composition is beautiful and very rich graphically.
