Life on the edge, a photo from Lefkada, Ionian Islands

Photographer's Note

Poros is located 25 kilometres south of Lefkada Town, on the verdant slopes of a hill descending into the blue sea stands the village of Poros which was built amphitheatrically and has a population of about 300 inhabitants. The village has some beautiful two-storey houses with tile roofs and is surrounded by narrow alleys.
Tourists usually go to Poros on the way to Mikros Gialos beach which is the charming coast of the picturesque homonymous south settlement of the island. The scenery is the perfect combination of white, azure and green since the coast is nestled within lush vegetation and is full of white small pebbles. The beach is ideal for total relaxation and unique contact with nature.
These sheep were just lazily grazing when I was on my way to the beach. I tried to take several photos of the landscape but somehow this almost accidental shot I liked the best.

Great depth here and a good composition with these sheep in the foreground.I like your eye/ camera contact with the big one a bit out of the center.

complimenti! Questa è bellissima.
Con un simile primo piano qualunque cosa andrebbe bene come sfondo, ma se questo invece è costituito dal mare e dalle splendide insenature delle isole greche allora puoi stare certa che ne esce una foto eccellente.
In questa hai curato molto bene la nitidezza e il contrasto e con l'aiuto del cielo tempestoso hai sfruttato a meraviglia una luce morbida e molto gradevole.
Sei stata veramente brava a cogliere questa bella scena. Complimenti

What a charming shot! The sheep is posing for you and making eye contact like all good models! Ha. The sky tells me that it is not always sun shine in Greece! Great composition with thos emountains adding layers of depth.

Hello Kamila,
Even without the sheep this shot would be a splendid panorama picture of sea, islands, peninsulas and sea inlets. The view behind the animals looks really wonderful with the magnificent nature in that part of Greece.
Now, the sheep are more than an added value on this picture. They became actualy the main theme. And a great subject! The sheep I find the most beautiful is the one where the wool hasn't been shaved yet and that is willingly posing for your camera.

I like this combination of animals and landscape. All of the smaller sheep are busy grazing, but the larger one is watching you. Maybe it is the leader of the group! He seems to be making sure that you are o.k., and not a danger to his friends. :-) I like the hills and water in the background, too.

That is a stunning landscape, especially from your high up point of view. Really nicely done othe portrait of the sheep too. I find they are great animals to take shots of, but find it difficult to do so as they usually run if I even look like I am heading in their direction. I love the gaze the guy in the middle has towards you too, he is very expressive.

This is just lovely. Dark cloudy sky makes good background with white sheep. It seem to be raining on the right. Sheep seem to be always curious so one poses nicely for you.

This is a very pleasant subject which makes a great, idyllic image of the Greek countryside. Sheep are always rewarding as a natural foreground. Here, the one staring at you is lovely. Good depth, strong colours, nice quality. You were lucky to find those sheep against such a perfect backdrop. You've captured outstanding detail with this beautiful soft lighting. The colours and the composition make this a most relaxing and pleasing picture. The fact that you have managed to approach so close to these animals without disturbing them also adds to the tranquillity. A really beautiful record of country life. I like it.

this picture is beautiful and captivating. I love the way you have combined themes and colours, the distant landscape has marvellous depth, colours and atmosphere, it's so moody and suggestive.
