Photographer's Note
SEE THE MAIN PICTURE AND WORKSHOPS AS THEY TOGETHER MAKE THE STORY
Here is the view of the high rock on which the Varlaam Monastery stand (on the left side). If you look at the top, you will see a kind of balcony. There is still a mechanism there that it is possible to take up and down the load or in older times, the monks were taken. In Workshop 1 you can see the thick line. But a bit lower, the cables are visible. In Workshop 2 you can observe the cart moving to the other side. In the background, another Monastery. I found it fascinating.
Better to see in the new tabs.

Hello Malgo,
These photos are all interesting, but you had a difficult choice of main upload, since you couldn't get all the important details in one photo. As you point out in the note, they together make the story. The main photo has the most dramatic view of the steep rocks and the nearest monastery. Even so I prefer WS #2 where we see the "cable car" and get a visual explanation of the wires. There is also a good view of another monastery in the background and a better light than in the main photo. WS #1 shows us the wires going across the ravine and also straight down, but without any carts.
Photographically difficult but an interesting trio. A link to a short movie would have done well.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Malgo,
What an interesting site, full of drama from the location of the monastery, to the methods of access!
You are right, the trio complete the story.
Like Gert, I prefer the w/s 2 with the cable car, mainly because of the better light but, despite that, this is a fine series which will probably inspire other photographers to emulate you!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Malgo,
The scenery is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the big rocks and of the monastery. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Ciao Malgo, your three photos are perfect for understanding the procurement methods for the monks who live in this really difficult to reach monastery. A nice idea still working but above all a fairytale place away from everyone and everything. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Malgo,
Although I didn't stand in the exact same place, I also have pictures of this cart. It still looks the same as when I was there :)
You really enjoyed very beautiful weather in Meteora.
Your photos show the stunning scenery excellently.
I've seen your videos also.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Malgo
Missed this one. This monastery might have been one of 2 that I visited. A good upward pov and excellent colour, sharpness and lighting. Tfs!

Hello Malgo,
They went to a lot of trouble for the sake of protection. I wonder how they carried all the building materials up there.

MT
