Photographer's Note

A couple on a romantic walk, around the streets of the picturesque village, on "Nisaki" ("Little Island" in greek), the island of the lake of Ioannina (Pamvotis Lake), one of the two inhabited lake islands in Greece (the other one is Aghios Achileios in Mikri Prespa lake, Florina Prefecture), and one of the very few inhabited lake islands of the world. Beautiful nature and beautiful traditional architecture, amazing peaceful atmosphere. I wish I had a house there.

The alley that you see in the photo leads to the Monastery where infamous Ali Pasha was arrested and killed (If you want to read more about the very interesting story of Ali Pasha, CHECK HERE ). There are 150 people still living on the village on the island, and their biggest dream is to discover, the fabulous, legendary Ali Pasha's treasure.

More info about the islet that I found HERE:

This is the islet in the lake of Ioannina which is accessible in ten minutes by small boat. There is a complete village on the island built in the 7th century by refugees from Mani and, because of its picturesqueness it has been declared a traditional settlement to be presewed. There are also some very important Byzantine monuments, such as the Monastery which contains fine frescoes dating to 1530 A.D., the Monastery or Monastery, as it is also known, the Monastery with its chapel of rare architectural style and also the more recent Monastery of Agios , where Ali Pasha met his death after having quarrelled with the Sultan. This monastery is now a museum. Along the shores of the islet there are some tavern as which specialist in fish dishes from the lake's fish, frog's legs and other specialities."
